I got a note from my good friend Deepa, from Dawn & Deepa, who asked me to do a guest blog post for her Little Citizen Street Style blog. My first reaction was: What? I can’t do this. I design clothing for adults – not kids. This overwhelming feeling came over me for a minute. I took a deep breath. I have 2 cute little nieces (ages 9 and 4) and they are always keeping up to date with the latest fashion trends, just like their Aunty. This actually could be fun!
One of my favorite French Couture houses, Lanvin, just launched a children’s line, which is just so terribly cute and stylish. Once I started researching, I discovered that Alber Elbaz, the designer for Lanvin designed the Christmas tree at the famous Plaza Hotel in New York City this year! I just had to incorporate the picture of the extremely beautiful Christmas tree in my collage. Surrounding the tree are photos very cute and fab girl models modeling the new Lanvin line. This girls kid’s line is full of net ruffles, puffy bottom dresses and trench coats. If I had kids, I would definitely dress them in Lanvin. It has the French fashion feel to it (which I love!) and brings us back to the Parisian couture and culture.
Earlier this year, Lanvin and the Ritz Hotel hosted an exclusive Children’s Tea Party to launch the “Summer 2012 Petite Collection” in Paris. In addition to the gorgeous fashions, the fun filled party featured a traditional French marionette show. The children amused themselves with ballons and trying on the collection, while the parents enjoyed tea and French pastries. Now that is my kind of party!
I hope you like my first ever kids blog post!
Lots of love… and Merry Christmas!
